Spring Fund Raiser
We are excited to have several different clothing items with a variety of prices, with the ASL handshapes "KSD" printed on each item. All items are embroidered except for the sweatshirt and t-shirt which are screen printed. The t-shirt, KS200, also has a picture of Jacobs Hall on the back. Please note some items have limited sizes.

Kentucky Dam Annual Picnic
Sponsored by Western Kentucky Deaf Alumni Association

The social will be held at KY DAM picnic shelter #1.
Will sell snacks and soft drinks.

On August 10, 2008-Sunday
At the picnic area of KY DAM STATE PARK, back of the Convention Center. Dinner will be served at 12:00.

1921-2008

Warren L. Dalley, 86, husband of Oneida Brown Dalley, died Feb. 3, 2008, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 9, 1921, in Birmingham, Mich., he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Lavinia Dalley. He was a 1939 graduate of Birmingham High School and attended Michigan State College. He was a World War II Army veteran, owner of Dalley Chevrolet in West Virginia, and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Brian Warren Dalley of Danville; and a sister, Muriel (Donald) Shepard of Southfield, Mich.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. today at Stith Funeral Home with the Rev. Quentin Scholtz and the Rev. Eddie Johnson. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Wheeler, Irvin Smallwood, Eddie Johnson, Phil Burton and Mike Hamm. Honorary pallbearers will be James Hester and Vernon Coulter.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. today until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Kentucky School for the Deaf Charitable Foundation or the Special Persons Advocacy Network.

Three Deaths

There have been three deaths over the holidays of the KSD Family. Bill Houk, Roma Dones (a parent), and Bill Stearns (an advocate).

The obits are posted.

Mr. Bill Houk passed away on December 26, 2007 and cremated. Mr. Houk's stepdaughter said that the family did not put any information or newspaper and did their private way. I want to share with you and you may want to inform the friend about Mr. Houk's death that may knew him. Thanks, Rhonda B.



Roma Marie Clark Dones
, 62, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008. Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday, Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home, Bardstown, KY. Visitation: after 3:30 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday. Mother of Joy Dones, KSD Alumnus.

STEARNS, BILL, 57, of Louisville, died Saturday, January 5, 2008. Bill was a native of Albany, KY and an administrator with the KY Department of Education working with the KY School for the Blind and the KY School for the Deaf. He was an advocate for teachers' rights, civil rights and student achievement. He was active in J.C.T.A. and K.E.A. Survivors include his wife, Donna; his children, Laura Lee Knight (John) and Charles Jacob "Jake" Stearns (Melanie); his grandchild, Logan Charles Knight; his mother, Dean Stearns; his sisters, Betty Weaver (Darrell), Martha Heist and Sheila Stearns; his brother, Don Stearns (Lisa); his stepchildren, Jeremy and Jane Conner; and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. CST Thursday at the Campbell Funeral Home in Albany with burial at Grider Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. EST at the Pearson-Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road in Middletown and from 4-8 p.m. CST Wednesday at the Campbell Funeral Home in Albany. Memorial gifts may take the form of contributions to The KY School for the Blind or the KY School for the Deaf in Bill's memory. Published in The Courier-Journal on 1/7/2008.
